Interweave: This project took a full year to complete. It contained many parts-Matt's real kinked metal sculptures here are paper, silkscreened with flat layers of color, and additionally sprayed with paint before being laser cut. The sidewalls were then hand painted to give the pieces presence. The laser cut pieces then adhered to letterpresses pages. Digital images were also printed and attached to letterpressed pages, and then hand-coloring could take place. The backs of the letterpressed images could be flipped to reveal a complete front page of the NY Times when registered back together. A Beautiful handmade box edition by Small Editions finished this work that recreated Matt's show with Anne Truitt.
New Blank: A quick work, Matt came and set some lead type from the Grenfell Press collection for this piece.
Puddles+Do and a Don't+Creased: All three of these works were fairly simple polymer plates. The puddles plate was 1:1 scale and another foray into NY Times territory, and the Do's and a Don't and Creased seemed to come out of a men's etiquette book and was scaled up.
